Your First Visit at Altitude Dental: No Surprises, No Pressure, Just Great Care

When you come in for your initial visit, please be sure to bring your ID and dental insurance card. To save time at arrival, you can complete your new patient forms online- you will receive a link after booking your appointment.

If your family physician told you that you need antibiotics prior to dental work, please take them as prescribed. If you are not sure that you need antibiotics, please contact your family physician prior to your visit.

An amazing experience all around! The clinic and staff were so comforting and helpful, friendly and took the time to explain everything to me in a way I could understand. I felt no pressure to do something I didn’t want, and felt like there was flexibility in both my treatments, scheduling. - Jaida, Mountlake Terrace

Pediatric First Visits

We encourage parents to accompany their children during their visit. During the first appointment, we will get to know your child and help them feel comfortable in the office by explaining what will happen during the visit and showing them the tools we will use to help keep their smile healthy. We will also discuss your child’s medical/dental health history, evaluate your child’s teeth and gums, and review proper dental hygiene instructions.

Dental anxiety in children is common. Here are practical strategies you can do at home that’ll help prepare young patients for their first visit:

  1. Address your anxiety first... it’s contagious! Children often mirror parent's own anxiety
  2. Advance preparation at home is key. Watching age-appropriate dental videos about dental visits helps reduce fear.
  3. Bring a comfort item. A favorite toy or blanket can make a difference!
  4. Emphasize routine, not treatment. Frame visits as “routine checkups” rather than problem-based appts.
  5. Reinforce positive behavior, immediately and often. Positive reinforcement is a powerful tool for reducing stress.
  6. Use simple breathing and relaxation techniques. These techniques give children an active role in calming themselves.

By using these simple calming strategies, you can help create positive experiences that last a lifetime
