Many people contact us with an interest in the ZOOM!™ In-Office whitening procedure. There are three very good reasons why you should think twice before having this procedure done.

First, speaking from personal experience, having my own teeth whitened with the ZOOM!™ process was the single most painful dental experience I’ve ever had! The pain lasted for six hours after the procedure.

The next reason why ZOOM!™ isn’t such a good idea has to do with science. There have been numerous scientific research studies that demonstrate the real bleaching effect is due to the At-Home “touch-up” kit that every ZOOM!™ patient gets. The reason your teeth look whiter immediately after ZOOM!™ is because the chemicals dehydrate your teeth and dehydrated teeth appear whiter. If you don’t use the “touch-up” kit (a tray and a normal, at-home whitening gel), your teeth will gradually revert to their original color.

Lastly, in order to cover the costs of two hours of dental office time, the dentist has to charge a high fee for the service. Local prices range from a low of $600 to as high as $850.
